Overview

You’ll arrive right after the gondola opens so you can squeeze in as many runs as you like with around six hours of time on the hill. With plenty of steep and deep powder, Kicking Horse offers heart-pumping vertical runs, steep chutes and wide-open bowls.

Featuring abundant soft snow and high alpine terrain Kicking Horse has something for everyone. Wide open bowls and long, long groomed runs for cruising, steep chutes and tree runs for the more adventurous. There is almost always fresh powder to be found. Enjoy a spectacular lunch at the Eagle’s Eye – Canada’s highest restaurant. A great day ski trip from Banff and Lake Louise and not to be missed on your Rockies ski vacation.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the tour?+
The planned duration of the tour is approximately 12 hours from Banff or 10 hours from Lake Louise including hotel pick up and drop off (pickup time ranges from 6:40am to 7:20am in Banff depending on your pickup location). We try our best to adhere to this time schedule however this can sometimes vary due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather/road conditions. We return to Banff around 6:30pm.
What does the tour include?+
The tour includes return transportation to Kicking Horse Mountain Resort from Banff, Lake Louise or Field and your lift ticket for the day. It does not include equipment, lessons or lunch.
Where is our pick up and drop off from?+
This tour picks up from several hotels in Banff, the Lake Louise village, and Field. You can select your preferred pickup location during the booking process.
What if I already have a lift ticket or seasons pass?+
If you only require transportation, then you can book this option without a lift ticket included.
How much time will we have to ski?+
We plan to arrive at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort by 9.30am just after the gondola opens. This can vary slightly due to weather and road conditions but allows for almost 6 hours of skiing before we depart at 4pm (please be ready to meet the bus at 3:45pm). Please note that Kicking Horse Mountain Resort is located in Golden, British Columbia, approximately 2 hours drive and 145 kilometers west of Banff.
Is there a later departure?+
The Powder Express is designed to maximize time on the hill so we start early to get you there just after the gondola opens and leave just before it stops. There are no half day options available.
Can I buy just one way transport?+
Yes, you can. You can choose just one way shuttle from Kicking Horse Resort to Banff ($86). Or from Banff to Kicking Horse, which includes as well the lift ticket ($159).
Is equipment provided?+
Ski/snowboard equipment is not provided and guests are to bring their own. If you do not have your own gear we would suggest hiring in town the day before, or alternatively there is a rental shop at Kicking Horse Mountain Resort.
What should I wear?+
Please wear ski wear, including a ski suit, hat and mitts or gloves.
Are the runs okay for beginners?+
Although this tends to a mountain for more experienced skiers/snowboarders there are runs suitable for all levels. Feel free to come see us in store to pick up a trail map or speak to our staff to see if it will suit your ability.
Does it include a ski lesson?+
This is not a ski lesson package. If you are looking for a lesson please speak to us in store about local options and we can find the right deal for you. This tour allows guests a full day to themselves to explore and ski/ride the runs they want to do.
What is the cancellation policy?+
There is a 24 hour cancellation policy, which allows you to change, cancel, or refund your booking up to 24 hours prior to your tour (or up to 7 days prior for group bookings).
Should I tip my guide?+
Tips are not expected, but are certainly appreciated. If you think your guide did a wonderful job and would like to indicate that with a tip, it will be graciously accepted.
