The Permanent Wolfdog Residents
Unfortunately, the tendency to adopt a wolfdog without proper understanding of them has led to the surrendering of many, and this Alberta wolf sanctuary is striving to solve this problem by taking in some wolfdogs as permanent residents at the sanctuary, and rehoming others.
Many of the wolfdogs that have been surrendered are high-content wolfdogs that have been bred by backyard breeders. The content of a wolfdog refers to the ratio of wolf and dog each animal has. A high-content wolfdog, has a higher percentage of wolf in them, etc. The permanent residents, that are of low, mid, and high-content, are available to see, learn about, and even feed on select tours!
The Goal of the Wolfdog Sanctuary
With the goal to spread awareness, and eventually aid the conservation of wolves in the wild, the Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is the perfect place to help you understand these wonderful animals, their tendencies, needs, and fun personalities.
The Sanctuary is open from Thursday to Monday and offers a range of tours to educate the public on wolfdogs and raise awareness regarding wolf conservation.
